Michael RJanuary 15, 2026Bird Photography Trip in Costa Rica My wife and I met Gustavo and his wife Katherine of Geo Natura Tours whilst on a photography trip in Colombia in December 2024. We were very impressed with his expertise in bird photography and knowledge of birds of Costa Rica. We asked him to organise a private photography tour of 5 days for photographing specific birds in Costa Rica in December of 2025.Having been on more than a dozen photography tours in Europe, Africa and Latin America we found his organised tour in Costa Rica the best experience of wildlife photography we have had so far. His knowledge of bird’s location, their habitat, behaviour, etc. was amazing. In addition, his expertise as a bird photographer is very impressive. Gustavo’s knowledge about birds and plants is encyclopaedic and his manners so friendly and genuine.By the end of the 5 days, we ended up with a great collection of beautiful photographs of the specific birds we had targeted, as well as other beautiful birds we were fortunate to see. More importantly, we had found a friendly and caring couple who we hope will guide us to more challenging photography tours in Latin America.Verified
Mark PDecember 3, 2025Birds and friends of Colombia This was my fourth trip with Geonaturatours—and the best yet. Before takeoff from Panama City, I realized I had forgotten my Nikon charger. I sent a quick message…and when we landed in Colombia, poof! Gustavo had already tracked down a loaner. Crisis averted!Over the 12-day birding adventure, GNT organized every detail—transport, lodging, and meals—so I could fully relax and stay focused on the birds instead of logistics or safety. We traveled by rail, riverboat, and rugged 4WD vehicles to reach an amazing range of habitats: mid-elevation cloud forests, desert scrub, wetlands, rivers, and even 14,000-foot volcanic slopes.Highlights? An unforgettable dawn at an Andean Cock-of-the-Rock lek; being absolutely mesmerized by 48 hummingbird species, some tame enough to perch on our hands; that delicious tension while waiting for shy antpittas to finally reveal themselves; and pure delight watching Golden-breasted Manakins click and flit between lek perches like feathered acrobats.Exceptional guiding, seamless planning, and spectacular birds—Geonaturatours keeps raising the bar. I’m already dreaming of trip number five.Verified
Joseph BNovember 16, 2025Unforgettable Bird & Wildlife Photography Tour I recently joined a wildlife photography tour in Colombia with Geo Natura Tours, and the experience was absolutely excellent.Everything was organized perfectly — the logistics, the hotels, the food — every detail was taken care of.We were guided by Gustavo Orozco, an outstanding bird and wildlife photography instructor. He made the entire trip fun, relaxed, and incredibly rewarding. We learned a lot, enjoyed every shooting session, and had a great time from start to finish. We truly enjoyed every moment of the tour, and there’s no doubt we’ll travel again with Geo Natura Tours. Highly recommended.Verified
John MNovember 6, 2025Colombia Bird Photography Tour This was a 13 day bird photography trip to Colombia. It was a 'bucket list' trip for me and my third trip with Geo Natura. As on the two previous trips the organization, accommodations and selection of sites to visit was excellent.Verified
Nikhi KOctober 22, 2025Excellent birding trip to Colombia Just returned from my third trip with GNT, a first birding trip to Colombia. We covered the western Andes and saw and photographed an amazing variety of birds in an area which represented only a small slice of the country. GNT did an excellent job with the logistics, transportation and lodging including showing us a diverse collection of birds. Gustavo and Katherine did a very good job in meeting and exceeding our expectations for this trip.Verified
Randy SOctober 21, 2025Birding the Western and Central Andes of Columbia This is my 10th trip with Geo Natura. I keep coming back because of the quality experience they offer. This trip I happened to need hospitalization in rural Columbia. Gustavo and Katherine took over and made sure I was properly cared for until I could rejoin the tour a day and a half later. Additional guides made sure the rest of the group did not miss any of their tour and make me feel guilty for shorting them. We found 382 species of birds, night monkeys, a vine snake, and we got to experience the real Columbia. I am very pleased to recommend this tour even with my health side trip in the middle.Verified
Bill EOctober 21, 2025Bird Columbia - The Western and Central Andes This was the 5th tour I have taken with Geonatura and it did not disappoint. We saw 376 species in 11 days of birding, and visited most of the habitats of the western and central Andean Region of Colombia. Accommodations and food were good, the weather generally cooperated, and the selection of sites to visit was outstanding. About the only thing I would suggest is that there should be more emphasis on preparing for cold weather--I should have brought a heavier coat. I can't say enough good things about the guides, who were all knowledgeable and very responsive to needs of the participants. I would not hesitate to take another trip with Gustavo and Catherine!Verified
Diego Jaramillo RebolledoMay 14, 2025FABULOUS TRIP One of my dreams in bird photography was to take one to the glittering quetzal, emblematic of beautiful Costa Rica. “It would have been impossible to achieve this without the valuable help of KATHERINE PEÑA Y GUSTAVO OROZCO,” the best nature guides and experts in bird photography. "They know where they lay herons and where quetzals nest." For them my thanks, not only as friends I appreciate, but as professionals and excellent hosts. Ruwan AMay 2, 2025A birders dream, in a birders dreamland If you are a birder and photographer, this tour in Costa Rica is made for you. We saw in excess of 400 bird species in just over two weeks, some of them rare. Furthermore, I was able to shoot most of them exceedingly well. On top of that, the dedicated, friendly and modest guide and owner Gustavo and idem driver Rafael, and the lovely 'natural' hotels, make for a relaxed and comfortble trip.
