Morning departure to Bosque de Paz, small family-owned hotel on the eastern foothills of the Central Mountain Range. Gorgeous cloud forest where we can find many species of hummingbirds and astonishing plant and animal diversity, we will have the opportunity to photograph many of the local species of hummingbirds. Bosque de Paz spectacular Cloud Forest is surrounded by rivers and forested areas in the backside of Poas Volcano National Park and the Juan Castro Blanco protected area.

After breakfast explore " La Selva " Biological Station. With 6000 acres of virgin rain forest, this spectacular preserve will give us the perfect introduction to the tropical rain forest. Vibrant rain forest creatures are there to be seen. Good chance to find Sloths, Iguanas, Poison dart Frogs, Toucans and many more unique species to lowland forests.

Explore the Oak Forest in search of the endemic bird species such as: Talamanca Hummingbird, Scintillant Hummingbird, Volcano Hummingbird, Northern Emerald Toucanet, Gray tailed Mountain Gem, Large footed Finch, and hopefully the elusive Resplendent Quetzal. As well as other beautiful looking Oak Forest birds, we will also learn more about the Oak forest of the area.

Day to go Whale watching on the warm Pacific waters, at this time of the year the Norther population of Humpback Whales has arrived to the warm waters of Costa Rica to give birth to their babies and raise them away from the attack of Orcas and Great White Sharks. By March these Whales are ready to go back to North America. We will visit the “Marino Ballena National Park” one of the most important protection sites in the tropics for Humpback Whales.

Afternoon to enjoy the hotel ground and the nearby beaches.

Morning drive to Sierpe River, one of the most important rivers on the Southern Pacific area of Costa Rica, our expedition will take us on a river safari in search of the unique Squirrel Monkeys and Scarlet Macaws of the area. Crocodiles, Capuchin Monkeys, Iguanas and dozens of water birds can be found along the river, if we are lucky we could have an encounter with the Emerald tree Boa, an endemic constrictor snake of Southern Costa Rica.
